Building the system behind a sourcing business.
I co-founded Lagbe Naki to help people in Bangladesh buy products from abroad. I designed and built the app it runs on, shaped by more than a year of orders, which follows each order from the customer’s first message to a delivered parcel and a profit we can confirm.

- Role
- Co-founder. I designed how the business runs an order, from the first quote to the final books, and built the app that carries it out.

Built
One record for each order, from the customer’s first message to delivery, and quotes that keep every version.- Result
- Each order’s profit is confirmed cost by cost, and payments, purchases and expenses sit in a ledger whose entries are never edited or deleted.
One record follows each order
An order crosses two currencies and two countries before we know what it earned. The price is fixed when the customer agrees to the quote, and some of our costs are only known weeks later. The app holds the order at every step, so any of us can see what an order cost, who changed a number and which money is still owed. A customer can put several products in one order, with one payment and one delivery, and the app follows each product on its own.
- 01 Customer Sends a product link
- 02 Intake bot Collects the link, quantity and variant
- 03 Lagbe Naki Builds the quote; a person approves it
- 04 Customer Pays the advance
- 05 Lagbe Naki Buys the product abroad
- 06 Lagbe Naki Brings it to Bangladesh
- 07 Customer Pays the balance
- 08 Lagbe Naki Delivers by courier
Profit is confirmed once every cost behind the order is known.
A person sets every price
Requests arrive as product links from stores abroad, written in English, Bangla or Banglish. The app’s intake bot pulls out the link, quantity and variant, and asks the customer in their own language for anything missing. When it is stuck, it hands the conversation to one of us. It has no way to set a price or confirm an order. From the quote onward, every step is a decision one of us makes, and the app keeps the record and does the arithmetic.
Listed sizeThe item, as the product page measures it.
Shipped sizeThe box it travels in, which the quote is worked from.
Illustrative. Freight is charged on the item’s actual weight or its box’s volumetric weight, whichever is greater.
A product page might give the item’s dimensions while its shipping box takes far more space. The app charges freight on the greater of the actual and the volumetric weight, and one of us checks the calculation before the quote reaches the customer. Revising a quote creates a new version, and each version keeps a fixed copy of every item as the customer saw it, so we can always say what we quoted and when.
Profit is confirmed cost by cost
The costs behind an order settle at different times: the product, the currency conversion and the freight. The app shows each cost with its state, confirmed, estimated or missing, so we can see which part of a profit figure is final. Once we confirm an order’s profit, the figure is kept as a record and stays fixed.
- Product Confirmed
- Currency conversion Estimated
- Freight Missing
- Local courier Confirmed
Order profit Provisional It becomes final when every cost is confirmed.
Illustrative. The bars stand for no real amounts.
The records keep their history
Payments, purchases and expenses are never edited or deleted. A correction is a new entry that reverses the old one, and balances and profit are worked out from those entries, so every screen agrees. Every change records who made it, with the old and new values. The database is backed up regularly, and each copy is restored and checked before it counts.
